TripAdvisor gives awards to “the best places for travellers” every year and this year it is Marrakech who wins their Travelers’ Choice Awards for best destination 2015. People know the place as the “Jewel of the Desert”, the chaotic city moved five places up and now is the best.
To choose the award winner, they need to know how many people like it, also how good the hotels and restaurants are and how many interesting things you can find in destinations all around the world. They want to know the statistics for the past 12 months.
The city’s markets don’t make such a good impression but the rest of the city of Medina moves visitors to the Middle Ages with its cobblestone streets, city walls, narrow streets and yards. The Jardin Majorelle café is the right place for a break in the centre of the city.
After Marrakech, TripAdvisor users are most fascinated with Siem Reap, Cambodia, and Istanbul, Turkey, which take the second and the third place.
Other places that moved on the list up are Cape Town, Africa, which moved nine spots to be in the top 10 list. Also Siem Reap jumped seven spots to take the second place.
